Who Will Play Anastasia Steele

We’re all still waiting to see who will be cast as Anastasia Steele, the young student who was seduced by the jaw-dropping Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades movie. Anastasia has been the subject of much speculation and those of us who have read the trilogy have built up an imaginative picture of her in our minds. She’s child-like in her demeanour. Innocent with big blue eyes and chews her bottom lip. Yet underneath this child-like innocence is her inner goddess who chips away at the outer shell and reveals a woman who is so addicted to Christian, she cannot bear to be without him. So who will play her?

Can Emma ever shake off Hermione from Harry Potter?  Anastasia Steele is a character who is young, a student and wide-eyed with innocence. Emma has the skills to pull this off as acclaimed actresses who we have watched grow up into a stunning young woman on screen and off. She is a hot favourite, despite her denials of being cast for the role.

Lily has the looks which can transform the student into the beautiful young Anastasia which Christian creates in our minds. Lily has that natural beauty which suits dressed-down or dressed-up and she will set pulses racing. It is not only Christian Grey who is stimulated by child-like qualities in a woman, many men are and Lily Collins has that innocent look which is ice-cool yet possess the innocence which could be transformed into a sex goddess.

The former Gilmore Girls actress, Alexis is another favourite who has grown-up on screens across the US and the UK. She possesses the qualities that Anastasia has. Luscious locks with wide blue eyes, Alexis is in the running for the role.  We think Alexis is perfect for the role without a doubt.

Amanda again has the innocence which is glaringly apparent in Anastasia. The Mamma Mia star has youth and beauty and this could be the role which makes her. After roles which have been gentle and based on teenage loves, it might be time for Amanda to show us what she’s made of in terms of a more adult role. What Amanda should be able to do is glide the young Anastasia into the world of which she’s so afraid to step into yet is not against the guidance of Christian.

Ashley has made no bones about the role of Anastasia. She’s overtly stated she’d love to be awarded the role. She has the looks, the blue eyes and she’s an acclaimed actress. A strong contender, she will pull of Anastasia’s appealing lack of unawareness of how gorgeous she really is. Christian turns Anastasia into her inner goddess and Ashley has Anastasia written all over her face.
The speculation rages on who is to play Anastasia and all we can do, is wait for the announcement. With the movie’s release date announced as August 1st 2014, casting now has some form of urgency; unless of course, it is going to be kept a secret until release?

Latest News on Sam Taylor Johnson Fifty Shades Of Grey Director

After a year of speculation, British director Sam Taylor-Johnson has been hired as the for the upcoming film ‘50 Shades of Grey’, a film adaptation of the first book in the Fifty Shades trilogy by author E. L. James. In late June 2013 author E. L. James and Universal Pictures finally broke the news of Taylor-Johnson being named director after one of the longest publicly announced searches for a film director in recent history. E. L. James had been publicly searching for a director for the film adaptations of her erotic romance novels since June 2012, when Kelly Marcel (of FOX-TV’s ‘Terra Nova’) was hired to write the screenplay adaptation of the novel. Thousands of fans of the novels have anticipated this news for some time, as it is a crucial step in what has seemed to be a very slow and nearly halted production.
To give fans an idea of what is to come, Sam Taylor-Johnson is a British director and fine art photographer and videographer. For her contributions to the arts, she was appointed OBE or Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2011. She is best known for her work as director on the 2009 British film ‘Nowhere Boy’, a film adaptation of the childhood and early adulthood of The Beatles’ member John Lennon. The film received mostly positive reviews among critics despite mixed box office results. The film received four British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) nominations, including a nomination for Taylor-Johnson for Outstanding Debut by a British Director. She eventually married the film’s star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He is 23 years her junior. Her personal relationship along with her directorial accolades made her an interesting and hopefully positive selection for director by Universal and Focus Pictures and E. L. James.

Will Robert Pattinson Land the Role of Christian Grey

Pattinson has been out of the game for a while, but after he invited the author of the Fifty Shades of Grey books to his star studded party in California, things are beginning to look interesting for Robert Pattinson. His connection with the Twilight franchise has been both a blessing and a curse. It’s understandable that E.L. James and the producers at Universal Studios and Focus Features want a fresh face, and don’t want the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise mixed up with the Twilight Saga, however there is no escaping the fact E.L. James was inspired by the vampire series written by Stephenie Meyers.
Christian Grey was based on Edward Cullen, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for Pattinson to get into the role. This could have its plus sides – Rob is a big star and would definitely bring a high profile name to the production, not to mention he’s a very talented actor, but the negatives outweigh the good. It would make the Twilight and Fifty Shades franchises almost inseparable.
Perhaps E.L. James’s attendance to the party is nothing more than a friendly gesture. Rob has been pretty quiet on the Fifty Shades of Grey movies, and even joked that he would feel the parody “Fifty Sheds of Grey” was more up his alley. The competition for Fifty Shades of Grey is fierce, with Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer competing for the top spot. One the girls’ end, things are less clear cut as the names seem to change regularly. One thing for sure, is that casting is just round the corner.

Comic-Con casting reveal just a rumor?

Now the script is finished and a director has been chosen, the only thing left now is to find a suitable cast for the Fifty Shades of Grey movies. With a projected release for August 2014, there is only a year left for filming, so it’s understandable that there have been rumors about casting and its reveal.

The latest in the rumor mill was that the official cast would be unveiled in San Diego later this month, but the author of the Fifty Shades of Grey series has denied these rumors and has decided to set the record straight, once and for all.

“I dunno where this rumor started that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con… but it is just that – rumor (sighs”,” E.L. James tweeted to fans.

But with the official release date being scheduled as August 1, 2014, there isn’t much time left to pick a cast, but the release date definitely isn’t a rumor, since Focus Features officially announced it on their Facebook page:

“The global release of Fifty Shades of Grey will start in North America on Friday, August 1st, 2014 with opening dates around the world to be announced. The Focus Features domestic theatrical release will be in theatres nationwide. Universal Pictures International is releasing the movie in the rest of the world.”

The movie is coming along, especially now that a director has been picked. British Sam Taylor-Johnson has recently joined the Fifty Shades team as the director, and will be putting Kelly Marcel’s script adaptation of E.L. James’s book onto the big screen.

“I am excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen,” said Taylor-Johnson in a statement, “For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will have honor the power of Erika’s book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin too.”

So far we’re no wiser on the casting, especially since the number one spot seems to flit between Henry Cavill, Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling, and more recently, Robert Pattinson. On the girls’ side, it could go either way, with the popular names being Emilia Clarke, Lucy Hale, Alexis Bledel, Ashley Greene and many more young and pretty actresses. Perhaps we might not find this out at Comic Con, but we’re pretty sure that we can expect to hear something about the movie’s casting round the corner any day now.
